ACCESSIBILITY

Last updated: 2026-07-07

1. My Commitment to Accessibility

Beck Stevens (“I”, “me”, or “my”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, including people with disabilities. I believe that literature, digital artwork, and web content should be accessible to all readers, regardless of technology, ability, or background.

I am continually working to improve the user experience of www.beckstevens.com and applying relevant accessibility standards across all pages.

2. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of accessibility: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

www.beckstevens.com is striving to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.

3. Practical Measures & Features

To support accessibility across this website, the following measures are built into the design and code:

  • Clear Visual Hierarchy & Contrast: Text formatting uses high-contrast colors and clean typography to ensure legibility across desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.
  • Responsive Design: Content scales cleanly when zoomed in or viewed on different screen sizes without horizontal scrolling or breaking layouts.
  • Alternative Text (Alt Text): Meaningful images, book covers, and graphical assets include descriptive alt text for screen readers. Purely decorative elements are marked so screen readers can skip them.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Core site features and links are accessible using standard keyboard navigation (Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter).
  • Semantic HTML: Code is structured using standard HTML5 landmarks and headers (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <h1>, <h2>) to help assistive technologies navigate the page logically.

4. Known Limitations & Ongoing Improvements

While every effort is made to adhere to WCAG guidelines, I recognize that some content or features may not always be fully accessible. Known areas being actively monitored include:

  • Older PDF Downloads or Previews: Legacy document previews or downloadable extracts may not be fully optimized for screen reader tagging. I am actively replacing old previews with accessible digital text.
  • Embedded Third-Party Media: Widgets provided by third-party platforms (such as newsletter forms, book retailer previews, or external video players) may occasionally present accessibility friction beyond my direct technical control.

5. Feedback & Support

I welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter accessibility barriers, experience layout friction, or need content provided in an alternative format (such as large-print text or accessible plain text):

Contact Form: Use the general contact form available on this site.

I aim to respond to accessibility feedback and enquiries within 3 business days.

6. Formal Enforcement Procedure
